Liam acts for institutional and private lenders on a wide range of financing transactions where speed, execution, and practical problem-solving are critical. He is known for his sensible, deal-focused approach, keeping transactions moving forward by anticipating issues, streamlining complexity, and maintaining close coordination with clients and counterparties. Clients value his responsiveness and his ability to deliver clear, commercially grounded advice that helps get deals done effectively and efficiently.
His practice focuses on corporate finance and secured lending, including real estate financings, construction loans, mezzanine structures, and asset-based lending (ABL), with recent experience in a range of industries, including transportation/logistics, consumer goods, and construction materials. He acts for Schedule I banks, private equity lenders, and real estate investor groups on such transactions. Liam also advises on insolvency-related and workout financings, while providing legal advice to creditors on their various enforcement options.
Liam received his Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School, where he was awarded the Harold J. Rubenstein Prize in Restitution Law. He joined Chaitons LLP as a summer student in 2020 and completed his articles with the firm. Outside the office, Liam is a devoted Arsenal FC supporter and enjoys exploring Toronto with his Goldendoodle, Arthur.
